Registration Q & A
How much does it cost to participate on a team? The cost varies by program. For 2018 our registration fees, which help with the administrative costs of running the team, and purchase t-shirts for team members, is as follows. K-5 = $30, 6-8 = $50, and 9 - 12 = $125 Rookie year and $75 additional years. *Rookie year includes a team track jacket.
How do I pay for registration & When is it due? Payment is due June 1, 2018 and must be paid through My School Bucks. Information about My School Bucks can be found on the school webpage. In May, there will be an icon for robotics registration. This is where you will pay. Students will lose their spot if the registration fee is not received on time.
When does registration open for 2018? Registration opens in person at the Open House on February 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Students attending in person will be first placed on teams, though we always reserve the right to balance our teams. For those unable to attend the registration event, you can sign up online after Feb. 17. While we try to place all students on a team, preference is given to those who have registered and paid by June 1. Volunteering to coach allows us to open the opportunity to more kids.
When do practices begin? The FLL and FLL, Jr. Kick off will be in August, with practices starting then. The Junior High kick-off is in September. Many teams do team building over the summer though.
My child plays fall sports, can he/she do both? For the K-8th grade programs, we are limited in the number of kids allowed on a team. Most of our practices occur in the evening. It is possible to balance multiple activities if the schedules do not overlap. It is not fair to the team to have part time team members, so if you are going to miss more than one or two practices we encourage you to pick one of the two activities to commit to. Students missing multiple practices will be removed from the team and no refund will be offered. The success of the team is dependent upon all team members being involved in practices and understanding all parts of the team.
