Board Meeting Minutes

December 8, 2025


Attendance: Nick Bird, Pat Henry, Denny Costlow, Justin Hayter, Jodi Russ, Rich Stewart, Paul Nelson

Absent: None


FLL Explore: Festival this Saturday, December 13 from 9am - noon, 10 teams participating - 9 are ours 1 from Dexter


FLL Challenge: Four teams competed yesterday in Brooklyn and managed to land in the middle of the scoring pack. No one is going to States.

  • We’re planning on summer training sessions for both kids and parents at the library to recruit more parents to coach/mentor and to teach more details about coding.


FTC:

  • Going to a new control style next year (FRC Style)

  • States for FLAG, Loose Screws and Classical Engineers this weekend in Grand Blanc. Any of them could qualify for the next level. MI is sending 9 to Worlds and 13 to Michiana from EACH States event this year.

  • Banquet December 21 at the center at 5pm


FRC:

  • Parade wrap up - need twice as many supplies to pass out

    • Candy in bulk from Sam’s

  • Have 36 kids registered for 1023

  • Have 5 kids registered for 8423 - 2 more coming from 8579 - Prob taking 7th graders again

  • Lock in on Dec 13 to switch rooms over from FLL to BX.

  • Kickoff January 10. Will be in on Jan 8 to get things ready.

  • Have events scheduled and hotels reserved for those.

  • We’re up about $42,000 in sponsor money not counting in-kind donations


Potential expenses:

  • Laser engraver and Laser cutter 


Nick proposed we develop a presentation from the Boosters Board to share with the school system to create more access for the center and more paid positions.


Financials - Still working on October and November financials. Looks like we made approximately $3,000 on the FTC event.

Anticipating about $10,000 proceeds from beef raffle, plus $25,000 from HundredX all for BX/NX travel.
