Milford District Event

On Thursday, March 12th Bedford Express traveled up to Milford, Michigan to compete in the week 2 FRC district event. Although at the competition we didn’t place exactly where we had hoped, the competition was tough and we held our own, we pride ourselves that we didn’t have any break downs during the matches.

On day 1, Friday the 13th, we played 8 out of our 12 qualification matches we went 5-2-1 at the end of the day. On our 4th qualification match we earned the high score of 441, with team 4362 Gems, 7491 Robotjackets, and us 1023 Bedford Express. We maintained this high score till the end of the competition, when eventually alliance 1 beat the score in the last finals match.

Day 2, Saturday the 14th, we ended in 7th place with a record of 8-3-1. We were the first pick of alliance 3. Our alliance consisted of alliance team captain 5114 Titanium Tigers, 1023 Bedford Express, and 5067 Steiner Steel Storm. We worked together, pushed through challenges, and kept going till the very end when we were eventually eliminated in the last semi-final match.

Our team received the Gracious Professionalism award. The Gracious Professionalism award is part of the ethos of FIRST. It’s a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.

We were so grateful to have the support of our mentors, parents, and sponsors. Without the support from these people we wouldn’t have been able to get as far as we did. Every competition we learn and gain more experience to help us improve.
