Student of the Week: Norah Harper (Programming)
Every subgroup of BX has been hard at work throughout the week during our season, but programming has gone above and beyond to create a functional and incredible robot! Our first sponsor spotlight, is Nora Harper, 1023’s programming lead! Check out what she has to say!
What is your subgroup working on this week in build season?
This week, we are working on our autonomous programs in PathPlanner, creating a data table for our shooter angle and velocity, and using AprilTags to automate robot positioning.
What has been the most challenging issue that has come up in your subgroup?
The most challenging issue that has come up in our subgroup is recent updates to our software. This is a learning curve for us because we are new to using Java and we have relied heavily on online resources for help, but now older resources don’t help us as much.
What has been your biggest accomplishment in build season so far?
Our biggest accomplishment so far is using Limelight localization to set our robot’s position on the field. We hope to use this to precisely automate our robot’s features such as shooting notes and climbing on the stage.
What are you looking forward to during competition season?
I’m looking forward to seeing how our robot compares to others and learning from other robots.
