Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI)

Our team was invited to compete in an off-season competition in Indiana. The event consisted of 50 teams each selected and invited to the event. Our robot performed as expected, and we had a lot of fun keeping busy in our off season, as well as having the seniors participate in one last event before they graduate.

BX Big Sisters

Our high-school girls invited the FTC girls to join them in putt putt as team bonding. This is how we make connections with the younger girls and help them be comfortable when they move up to the FRC level. We had a lot of fun and are looking forward to our next monthly meeting.

STEM Camp

We host a yearly STEM summer camp for kindergarten through 5th grade. At this camp we focus on teaching the kids simple STEM based activities to engage them and help them realize anyone can participate. We showed the kids our robot and demonstrated how our robot launched some of last year's scoring elements. Some of the activities we did were, having the kids get creative with making and testing paper air planes, making bridges out of paper cards, making tin foil boats, and playing around with spheros, which are mini robots that connect and are controlled through Bluetooth. On the last day we had a water balloon flight between the kids and our team.

Subgroup Meetings

We continued to have meetings focusing on our different subgroups to prepare for IRI and continue work through the off season.
