Week 7 (February 23rd- March 2nd)
Unveil
Thank you to everyone who came to our robot unveil! We had so much fun showing off what we do. If you weren’t able to make it, here’s a breakdown of everything we did.
To begin, our coaches and mentors shared about all the hard work we put into this season and gave an update on the status of our robot. Then, we introduced the alumni who came to the unveil. Next, the students of Bedford Robotics, Bedford Express and Next Express, shared their name, grade, and how they contributed to the team.
After that, our Impact Team presented their presentation and impact video. We then played the game reveal video and unveiled Next Express’ robot, followed by Bedford Express’ robot. Finally, we invited everyone to ask any questions they had and to get a closer look at the robots.
We wouldn’t be able to have a successful season without the support of our coaches, mentors, families, and sponsors. We want to give another big thank you to everyone!
Media
Last week we planned our REBUILT unveil video, we captured clips for the video using 3 different go pros, a drone, and people using cameras. This week we will be working on finishing the unveil video. We are aiming to have the video done before our first competition which is next week!
Learning how to use our camera
Build
With drive practice and programming starting to pick up we have begun to slow down on build. We have been working on making small adjustments and fine tuning to the robots subsystems.
Electronics
The night before unveil we added an over the bumper intake to our robot. We had to wire 2 X44 Krakens and the throughbore cancorder, which is a cancoder that is used as a position sensor. We also added a magnetic sensor so the turret knows where zero is.
Programming
We have been very busy perfecting the programming of each subsystem. Our main focus was to fix the odometry, the position on the field, to get proper velocity measurements to lock on to the april tags. We also worked on the gear ratio for the turret.
